VW Golf kicks an almighty punch with 'Fight'
6th January 2009 - The Mill, DDB London and Stink have teamed up to produce ‘Fight’, VW Golf’s new action packed one minute spot. Directed by Ivan Zacharias it follows a VW engineer in a series of spectacular fight sequences reminiscent of the multiple ‘agent’ scenes fromThe Matrix. It begins in an office where an engineer is working on a series of sketches. From hereon in our hero fights a number of his alter-egos in various locations around the factory. As the manufacturing machines continue to produce the new VW, the spot culminates in a tense fight between all of the characters seeing the engineer rise victorious, looking on in admiration at the new and finished VW Golf.
Most of the action was shot when the factory was either closed or the robots were not behaving to camera. Separate plates of the robots were combined and placed behind the action to create a busy factory. The director was also keen to complete all the FX work on raw un-graded scans which were then scanned at The Mill and conformed directly off the SAN server. The final grade was added at the end by Paul Harrison in Baselight.”
