A great resource to include in units of work. The Earth day link is a great way to introduce concepts of recycling, conservation, sustainability and a design challenge.

A fun interactive way to encourage children to learn to read. Children can help to create stories and then at the end comment on what they thought of the story e.g. like it, not sure, not really through the use of talking icons.

Resources: Starfall is a fantastic website it has online books that are suited for children in the lower years of primary. It encourages children to read more in a fun environment whilst developing their skills with reading. It is not as good as the teacher however it would be perfect in the classroom for a fast finisher or a computer lesson on navigating websites.

The Starfall learn-to-read website is offered free as a public service. We also provide writing journals and books at a very low cost that can be used with the website or separately. Teachers around the country are using Starfall materials as an inexpensive way to make the classroom more fun and to inspire a love of reading and writing. Primarily designed for first grade, Starfall.com is also useful for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and second grade. Starfall is perfect for Home Schooling.
