Adjustable Beds and Hi-Low Beds

An adjustable bed offers many advantages to people who suffer from back problems or are mobility challenged, but many people who just enjoy reading or watching TV in bed purchase them to. These beds allow the back and foot portions to be manipulated in a manner that makes it possible to improve circulation or to sit up in bed.

They use a special electric motor and many models have a battery backup. This ensures that if you loose power, you will still be able to use the bed. The beds come in all different shapes and sizes. The twin, full, and queen mattresses are very similar to a traditional bed, but the king mattress is slightly different. A king mattress is actually 2 single beds that are mounted next to each other. This allows the bed to be used independently of one another and so while you are reading, he can be sleeping.

For some, getting into and out of the bed can be an issue. A hi-low bed is used in these cases, because it can actually raise and lower. This makes transfers to and from the bed much simpler and safer. Some hi-low beds do not offer the same functionality of an adjustable bed, but more and more frequently adjustable beds are being outfitted with the hi-low option.
