Country Fried Steak Recipe
Also known as “Chicken Fried Steak”, this country fried steak recipe is a traditional “down-home” favorite. Reportedly this recipe originated when German immigrants settled in Texas and adapted their Wiener Schnitzel (tenderized, breaded veal cutlets) to the readily available round steaks, this food has made it to many menus and dinner tables throughout the south, Midwest and southwestern part of the country.
Usually served with a vegetable and mashed potatoes, then loaded with gravy, it’s not difficult to see why so many families are fond of this dish.
