Don't be a slave to your tripod. Build this stabilizer and see how much better you photos and video can be. Get professional results. This instructional video shows you how to build your own stabilizer in 5 minutes for less than $1. It is super light weight and folds up small enough to fit in your pocket. With this stabilizer, you can hand-hold your camera with shutter speeds at least 3 stops slower than without. It works just as well with video cameras.
I propably wouldn't come up with an idea like that in a million years. Nice work!
By Nachos 1200665143 Reply Spam [+5] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI didn't come up with it either, but I really like it. Its so simple. It makes you wonder how many other great ideas are just sitting there right in front of us, but we never think of them.
By cobbler 1200718333 Reply Spam [+4] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removenice shout out to eagle scouts and metacafe plug! but nifty little trick... i'm definitely gonna try it!
By snice26 1200530198 Reply Spam [+3] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou noticed those little extras. The other thing that I threw into the video was a pair of exotic shoes from my collection. I try to showcase my collection any time I have a chance. So far, the only other chance I had was the shoe tieing demonstration video. Did you see that one? Its another simple trick that really works.
By cobbler 1200530739 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removesweet , I have a video kinda like that
By kiwimonster 1200781255 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDid you patent this yet?
By DJQuick 1200516369 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI can't take credit for it. I saw the basic idea for this somewhere years ago.
By cobbler 1200519721 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removepatent a piece of string tied to a weight.
By Jeff in Lodi Wi 1201027468 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removesounds silly, but leave it up to someone get some really fancy string, add it to a fancy piece for the floor, and fancy adapter gadgets for the cameras :)
By roxiefoxx 1225432656 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAwesome!!!
Thanks Dude!
Dam..this is a feaking good idea for taking night shoot. I just went back from China holiday with some night and low light shooting, most of them are just shaked and quit blur. I wish I could know this trick early. anyway, good tips and I hope you will success with this video. 5 stars from me and I will share this video at my TricksPRO.com website soon.
By tycoyoken 1200507551 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI am glad you liked it. I wish I had known about this earlier too. Its just so easy to make and carry with you all the time.
By cobbler 1200511198 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou like it.
By cobbler 1200511112 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI took this one step 'simpler' and tried it with a simple reel of kite string with an adjustable loop tied in the end.
Tighten the loop of string around the body/lens/phone and stand on the reel.
The basic test I tried proved, to myself at least, that sharper images could be achieved in low light.
I'm no pro photographer, but this little experiment was in the very least, quite interesting.
I made one last week and it works GREAT.I used it on four different size cameras we own and it makes a big difference in picture quality. Thanks for the idea.
Larry
Thank you so much for the tip !! GoD Bless
By Toy Martz 1216146226 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveVery cool metacafe shirt you got!
Keep it up with the work!

Cobbler great work! Simplistic inventions at work.
By Vids2u 1211452031 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat was awesome idea man...
Good job :-). Top of it, you were genuine enough to accept that you took this idea from elsewhere, which makes me feel proud to use this idea of yours...
how can i speak english just like ya!!!!!!! u english sounds awesome!!! you should go to teach english in China!!! i promise you ll get a great career!!!!!!!!!
By erik_done 1207753520 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI think I'll throw all my expensive lenses out and use this method.
By johanfrc 1205883059 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis is a great idea! I have a Canon Powershot A630 which does great in well-lit environments, but lacks in dimmer light, making camera shake even worse. I will definitely be trying this :D
By Topaz 1205375807 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTripods really suck. Especially if it's a certain shot that requires immediate action. And panning is pretty amazing with video. Thanks!
By Wabuf 1203366760 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removenice one i was thinking of doing somthing in pictures so thanks
By t2cud 1202661492 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHey, that is pretty creative. Thanks for the tip, I think I'll try it out!

five stars for you
I so give you props!
By michaelwong38 1201661345 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeawesome! i'm a motorcycle photog for a living. great tip!
though, i bet it'll induce fatigue pretty quickly, especially lugging around a 400 f/2.8 with a 1.4x II all the time. :D
To everything. But is is a great way to avoid carrying a tripod. Of course it is not going to work on long exposures and a big piece of glass is certainly going to get heavy. I suppose if you are running around with 400mm F/2.8 then weight is not one of your biggest concerns and you probably don't even notice the added weight of a tripod.
By cobbler 1201570248 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removekipkay has stolen this idea and added it to his latest video, HMMMM! I see my last comment to this tip of yours is deleted by him, I mean somebody...
Maybe he stold the 5 I gave you? I will give you another 5.
I gave a very apreciative comment to THIS video of yours right here where I am typing now yesterday
BTW: the 2nd rank of a five made the number go up one day later.. makes me wonder if more than my comments are being deleted!!!!!
I am not sure whether kipkay has seen my video or not, so I am not going to say that he stole my idea. Plus, I can't actually take credit for the idea. It is one of the tricks of the trade that. Not too many people know about it. But, still I didn't come up with the idea
I suppose that having something like that on a kipkay video can't really hurt the traffic to my video. Hopefully it will send a little more trafic my way.
more traffic, vrooom vrooom!!!
By LaserCo 1201497789 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSuspend two cords (or one huge loop) from the bolt and use one under each of your spread feet, thus creating a triangle. It seems to make some reduction in lateral judder.
Nice idea, BTW! My inverted duopod is stashed in the camera pocket now. Ta.
That someone like the video enough to actually try it.
I have thought about that triangle too. It seems like a good idea.
I'm making it this weekend! 5 *'s!
By Hoopajoo 1201041161 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhy didn't I think of this? LOL! So simple, but so useful and effective. It does indeed give one cause to wonder what other such ideas are waiting to be discovered. Well done.
By CS Productions 1201014161 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveA trick that is actually helpful for those who utilize metacafe and is easy and cheap. Great job, very creative! 5 Stars!

By cobbler 1201065810 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhere did you get it?
By Bunjabin 1200933532 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat's one of the cool perks about being a Metacafe producer. They actually send you one of those free. Hopefully with that shirt on, fewer of my videos will show up on youtube.

By cobbler 1200718446 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewith the loop around the foot Idea. You could do that and run it up your pants leg. I shoot weddings every now and then. Have a birthday coming up . Cool add on to a genius idea , Thanks .
By profound 1200656069 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyou are talking about having the string come out the top of your pants. I guess that would work. It may even work to tie it onto your belt if you have a little more gut than I do to hold you belt down.
By cobbler 1200719362 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeawesome man. I never would have thought of that. Check out my vids !!!!!!
I'm going to use that on my boat this summer shooting my nature vids. No way to use my tripods on the boat. Thanks a million man.. Profound
That sounds like the perfect application. It obviously is not going to work for long shutter speeds, but it will handle a broad range of the middle-speed shots. Its also great for the tight quarters of a boat.
