Don't Panic!

Some bookmarked URLs may have unexpected or dangerous effects when visited, so they automatically get assigned a dangerous icon, are kept private ("not shared"), and pop-up a warning when you try to visit them.

Any URL that does not start with one of the following is assumed to be dangerous:

  • color:
  • feed://
  • ftp://
  • http://
  • https://
  • irc://
  • mms://
  • news://

If you are sure this bookmark is safe and from a trusted source, there are three ways you can still use it:

  1. Add the link to your browser's bookmarks.

On your bookmarks, right-click (or control-click) the link and choose "Bookmark This Link" or "Add to Favorites"

  2. Visit the link manually.

On your bookmarks, right-click (or control-click) the link and choose "Copy Link Location" or "Copy Shortcut". Then, paste the URL into your address bar.

  3. Edit this URL.

Delete "http://delicious.com/doc/dangerous?" from the current contents of the address bar for this page. Your URL is what appears after the question mark.

Note: If you got here from a bookmark you saved before September 2006, its URL was automatically changed to redirect to this page. It may not be a private bookmark. If you'd like to access this url, you can use the second way above, or re-save the bookmark and use either way.

If you have a good reason why we should allow sharing of an additional scheme, or any questions, please contact us.
